Developed criteria for performance assessments of penetrator weapons for the United States Air Force and Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Formulated empirical formula for the impact of weapons for air-to-ground launch in taking out buried hard targets. The Bakhtar-formulated approach takes into account:
- Characteristics of the host geologic system
- Site-specific characteristics of the buried targets
- Characteristics of surface cover
- Launch altitude
- Characteristics of the weapon
- Impact Velocity
- Dimensional details of weapons (aspect ratio)
- Explosive Pay Load
- Caliber Radius Head (CRH)
And enables the prediction of the degree of damage and closure to the sub-surface targets. The Bakhtar formulations have been successfully applied to Blue 109 and are applicable to the other air-to-ground GBUs including MOP.
